3rd International Agrobiodiversity Congress (IAC)

The 3rd International Agrobiodiversity Congress (IAC) will be hosted by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT in Kunming, China, from April 22 to 25, 2025.

This congress aims to implement the Kunming Declaration on Biodiversity and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It will provide a platform for policymakers, scientists, producers, entrepreneurs, and farmers to exchange knowledge and collaborate on the conservation and sustainable use of agrobiodiversity worldwide.

Dr RS Paroda, President of the Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources (ISPGR) and Chairman of the Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS), has been honored with a position to be Member of the Steering Committee of the 3rd IAC. In this role, he will significantly contribute to key Congress activities, contribute to the development of the Manifesto, and promote the Congress's objectives and outcomes.

Postponement of “National Symposium on Hybrid Technology for Enhanced Crop Productivity”

Due to non-availability of AP Shinde Symposium Hall on account of some important high-level meeting being organised by the Government, the National Symposium on Hybrid Technology for Enhancing Crop Productivity, which was scheduled to be held from 2-4 December 2024, is postponed. The Symposium will now be organised at the same venue from 8-10 January 2025. Abstract Submission date is extended up to 30 November 2024.

A 3-day “National Symposium on Hybrid Technology for Enhanced Crop Productivity” will be organized by the Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS), a neutral Think Tank, jointly with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) , International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT), International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), and Indian Society of Plant Genetic Resources (ISPGR) with the support of Federation of Seed Industry of India (FSII), Maharashtra Hybrid Seed Company (MAHYCO), Rasi Seeds and Bayer Crop Science Limited, in AP Shinde Symposium Hall at National Agriculture Science Complex (NASC), Pusa Campus, New Delhi, from 2-4 December 2024. at the National Agriculture Science Complex (NASC), Pusa Campus, New Delhi, from 2-4 December 2024. Around 300 stakeholders including researchers, policymakers, representatives of CG centres and the private sector are expected to participate. The aim of the Symposium is to discuss and suggest a way forward for scaling hybrid technology in crops, mainly rice, maize, cotton, pearl millet, sorghum, sunflower, pigeon pea, castor and some selected vegetable crops.
